About us

Who is recalm?

Since our foundation in 2017, we at recalm GmbH have been working continuously on the vision of blocking out noise at the touch of a button and without headphones. Inspired by the big city noise in Hamburg-Altona, where recalm got its start, we strive to make a positive change for people and companies through innovation and collaboration by creating safe and pleasant working environments.

What solutions do we offer?

We offer high-quality, multifunctional audio solutions for driver’s cabs that reduce disturbing machine noise, focus on hearing protection and the well-being of machine operators and enable hands-free communication via radio or telephony. The Bluetooth interface enables simple music playback via your smartphone. For greater work safety, productivity and quality of life. All functions are modular, which means that each of our solutions is available tailored to your needs.

Which industries particularly benefit from our solutions?

As every machine and every machine operator’s working environment is highly individual, so are our audio solutions. This is why they are used in many areas, e.g. in the construction, agricultural and forestry industries, trucks and aircraft interiors. What makes recalm unique?

We are the first company to develop retrofit audio systems for machine operators that combine active noise cancellation, hands-free communication, radio and music entertainment. Our products are precisely tailored to a driver’s needs thanks to many years of analysis and research. As a pioneer in active noise cancellation in the open field without headphones, we open up new worlds of hearing protection, employee safety and general well-being.

What advantages does ANCOR offer?

ANCOR facilitates communication for machine operators by enabling hands-free radio and telephony with the highest voice quality – for more productivity and safety in everyday working life. In addition, active noise cancellation can protect against long-term hearing loss by demonstrably reducing machine noise by up to 50%. Music playback via Bluetooth and an optional radio connection round off the package and make ANCOR a unique audio solution for machine operators of all kinds.

Is the system easy to use?

ANCOR is as intuitive to use as any Bluetooth speaker.

How does ANCOR contribute to occupational safety?

Active Noise Cancelling has so far only been known from headphones. Our system works in free field, i.e. no headphones or similar need to be worn. Behind it are reference microphones and sensors that pick up the sound (machine noise) and then produce a corresponding counter-sound, whereby certain sound waves cancel each other out. The noise reduction perceptible to the ear is thus up to 50% and particularly affects low-frequency engine noise.

How do I know if the ANCOR fits my machine?

ANCOR is available as a retrofit solution (ANCOR Headrest) and is compatible with all machines that have a headrest and seat with a long backrest. It can also be retrofitted to existing machines or installed as a full integration with the desired components in new machines.

How does active noise canceling work?

Active noise canceling has only been known from headphones so far. Our system works in a free field, i.e. no headphones or similar need to be worn. Behind it are reference microphones and sensors that pick up the sound (machine noise) and then produce a corresponding counter-sound, whereby certain sound waves cancel each other out. The noise reduction perceptible to the ear is thus up to 50% and particularly affects low-frequency engine noise.

Can ANCOR replace my hearing protection?

The effect of active noise reduction is significant (up to 10 dB(A)), but cannot be compared with classic earmuffs. Our system works in the frequency range below 700 Hz with a limited extension of the quiet zone to approx. 10 – 30 cm. Other types of hearing protection have a more broadband effect and are always ideally aligned with the ear.

What communication options does ANCOR offer?

ANCOR simplifies communication – whether by radio or telephony. You can connect your smartphone via Bluetooth and make and receive calls hands-free. This gives you full control of the machine without any loss of voice quality. If you use radio, our radio module can be added as an option. This is compatible with all common radio standards and radio helmets and can be operated via a radio pedal or integrated directly into the joystick.

Which radio systems is ANCOR compatible with?

ANCOR supports all common operating and CB handheld radios such as Kenwood, Motorola, Midland, iCom and Stabo. It is also possible to communicate with radio helmets from 3M Peltor LiteCom, Protos BTcom or Stihl Advance proCOM via the compatible handheld radios. We also support mobile radios from Stabo, Kenwood and Midland.

Can I connect my smartphone to ANCOR?

Yes, thanks to the Bluetooth interface, you can easily connect your smartphone to ANCOR and use it to make calls and play music or the radio. The adaptive volume control regulates the music volume for incoming calls or radio.

Are there any customer-specific adaptations?

As we handle all development and production, we can fully customize ANCOR to meet individual requirements (ANCOR Custom). We would be happy to advise you further.

Can I also rent the ANCOR?

If you would first like to test what ANCOR can do for you in everyday life, then the ANCOR rental is ideal for you. The minimum rental period is 20 days at €37.50 / working day with full equipment. The rental price will be deducted from the purchase price.
